CDEFI’s participation at the Assises franco-chilienne

24/04/2025
On 15th and 16th April 2025, the Assises franco-chiliennes de l'enseignement supérieur, de la recherche et de l'innovation were held in Santiago de Chile, organised by the French Embassy in Chile, in collaboration with the Chilean Ministry of Education, the Institut français du Chili, as well as numerous institutional and academic actors from both countries.

CDEFI was represented by its Vice-President, Ms Laure Morel, hence reaffirming its commitment to developing international cooperation in the field of engineering and promoting engineering education worldwide.

During those two days, several thematic round tables provided an opportunity to assess the current situation and explore new areas for collaboration between France and Chile. Discussions focused on:
  • structuring programmes to support the mobility of students and researchers,
  • regional research and innovation programmes,
  • prospects for cooperation within the European Higher Education and Research Area,
  • as well as the major contemporary issues linked to the environmental, digital and energy transitions.
Laure Morel took part in the round table discussion focused on attractiveness strategies and student mobility flows between France and Chile. This session brought together representatives from CRUCH (the Chilean Council of University Rectors), Campus France, France Universités, as well as a former Chilean graduate of the École des Mines de Douai, who came to talk about her experience as an alumni.

The discussions highlighted the strengths of French engineering studies, the diversity of support schemes for mobility, and the common challenges of building balanced and sustainable partnerships for the benefit of students, institutions, and both countries. CDEFI is delighted with thisparticularly dynamic Franco-Chilean relationship and will continue to work actively to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, research, and innovation.

CDEFI would like to extend its warmest thanks to all the organisers for the quality of their welcome and the richness of the discussions held throughout the conference.
